The Pearl

Why would Kino throw the pearl in the ocean? He would have been a very rich man. Kino the main character of the story “The Pearl” by John Steinbeck. In the end of the book, Kino throw the pearl not wanting it but during the beginning of the book Kino has been talking about how he is going to be a rich man with the pearl. The pearl has changed from Kino and the way he lives from the beginning of the book to the end of the book when he got rid of it.
In the beginning of the book Kino needed a pearl to save his baby son’s life. Out in the water Kino dived and found the pearl to make him and his family rich. When Kino found the pearl he thought it would be the “pearl of the world”. Thanks to the pearl in the beginning, it has made Kino from being poor to being rich. This change made Kino think what he was going to get. Before he found the pearl he wasn’t able to do a wedding for him and his wife because they didn’t have the money it costs.
By the time Kino was trying to sell the pearl he has became a lot angrier from before when he didn’t have the pearl. It was when the buyers were only offering him 1,000 peso’s when he was expecting 50,000 peso’s. He knew the buyers were cheating him witch mad him mad. Also he killed a man to be able to protect the pearl. This time Kino changed from the beginning that was kind of calm too know which is stressed and angry. If he hadn’t of found the pearl, he wouldn’t have killed a man.
In the end, Kino realized the pearl is evil and he knew he has changed ever since he found the pearl. He had enough of the pearl when he killed his son on mistake so he got rid of it. It has changed the life of Kino and Juana when they lost their baby. If they kept their baby they could have changed even more.
