Living the Dream
What would you feel like if you weren’t really wealthy and lived in Africa then become one of the most famous NBA stars of all time? Well this happened with Hakeem. He lived in Africa when he was a kid then people started watching him play basketball and thought he was good. In the book, Living the dream with Hakeem Olajuwon is him telling what it was all like living in Africa with a not to wealthy family too, living a American dream. The book “Living the Dream” made me realized how lucky it was for him to go to school in America and become extremely famous. This is a great story teaching people that no matter where you live and how rich you are, your dream can still come true.
Hakeem lived in Nigeria. Nigeria isn’t the richest country to live in but it did get its independence. People in Africa aren’t as lucky as people like us in America are, but people like Hakeem did something sometimes Americans can’t do. He became a star. Living in Africa, not a lot of people become famous and rich especially when he was 18. Hakeem was getting noticed when he was playing for a small league in Africa. I think there should be more people like him in Africa with dreams and making it come true. Not only he joined the NBA (he was on the Houston Rockets) but he also got the opportunity to go to college in the US.
Even though he lives in Africa, his and other families were poor in Africa. Not only in Africa but around the world there are a lot of poor people. Just because both of his parents had jobs doesn’t mean he is rich, his parents had a lot of kids to support. Since his family was poor, I think they made a good decision of not letting him playing outside because he was in Africa so the chances of him being a athlete are slim. He loved being active. .Making Hakeem wealthy was cool for me to think about because not a lot of people in Africa can say a local in their town was a MVP in the NBA 1994 Championship. You don’t even see that every day in America. I hope people in Africa realize the same struggles Hakeem has been through and look at him now! Africa is an extremely poor place but can have on of the best talents.
In my opinion, Hakeem is really living the dream. This book shouldn’t stop other African children dreams too. If anything this book influences kids everywhere that anything is possible. My Childhood Experience
When I was 10 I never wanted to ride a roller coaster. My brother Nathan, works a six flags in Gurnee and took my sister and I in for free. At first I did not want to go on any scary roller coasters. I was scared when the coaster went down the lift real fast. It was so fast I thought the cart would fly off and plum it in the ground.
Later Nathan made a bet for a bottle of coke that I would ride raging bull (the biggest ride in the park). Keep in mind that this would be my first ever roller coaster. The lift looked scary it was so tall and went up slow. My brother says it is so slow that a couple got married on it. After the ride I realized it was the most fun I had ever.

Pokemon
I like Pokémon because they are fun. It is the best thing ever invented.

Ncaa
March madness is the time for collage basketball. I filled out my bracket and I have Pittsburgh beating Texas in the championship. I'm not a collage basketball kind of guy but when it comes to brackets I'm like the Martha Stewart in predicting. I have Pittsburgh going to the champion ship because I used to live in PA. This is just what I know that is going to happen.

The Bus
Why don’t biography books explain thoughts and detail sometimes? The book “The Bus” Is a life story about the NFL hall of famer, Jerome Bettis (nicknamed the bus). Jerome wrote this book about his long journey to the Super Bowl. This book explains his life in and outside the football helmet. The Bus can be one of the best biography books you’ll ever read because the way it was written, I think was amazing.
One of the reasons this book is different from any other biography book is the beginning of the book doesn’t just start out when he was a kid. It started out with him in the AFC championship on the Steelers in 2005. In the game Jerome fumbles the ball and the other team, the Colts recovered it when it was a close game. Then to leave the suspense running, the next page then talks about his childhood. That made me want to read it more to get back the AFC championship part, and I almost wanted to flip through the pages to see what happened after the fumble.
In addition with the plotline unlike some biography books, Jerome wrote it so he explains what he thought at the time. For example when the Steelers quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger saw Jerome fumble the ball and the Colts recovered it, Ben barely tackled the guy who got the ball by the ankle. Jerome later explains the Ben is the best Quarterback anybody could have. The reason this is different from any other biography is because it might be written by a different person. So writer can’t explain how they felt or who they thought about somebody.
In conclusion I think this was one of the best books I’ve ever read. I don’t usually like biography books because they don’t always have as much detail. But this one was different. He really told people what he thought about things. This book was taking the reader on the inside of what it would be like hanging out with Jerome and how badly he wanted to win a super bowl. This is why I think the way it was written and organized is one of the best books I’ve ever read.

The Year I Owned The Yankees
The Year I Owned the Yankees
What would you do if you owned the New York Yankees? The book “The Year I owned the Yankees” is written by Sparky lye. It is about Sparky buying the Yankees and takes you in on the things he would do. He tries to get the old Yankees and start winning games again. The mode of literature in this story is comedy because the main character is always in control and the story is realistic.
This book’s main character is Sparky lye and he buys the Yankees making him the owner. Sparky lye is the boss and makes a lot of changes. This proves he is in control, because if someone is the boss of something they are in control on what he can do. In this case it is Sparky with the Yankees. This story is also very realistic because this story’s events are possible but it is just a fantasy.
In addition in the M.C being in control and being realistic, this story starts out in everyday life. Sparky was watching jeopardy then the phone rang for an offer to buy the Yankees. Then the main character causes a conflict which was buying them because it made the old owner (George Steinbrenner) mad. So George had security to take him out because he locked himself in his office for a long time. The problem got worse when he found all the tapes in his desk later with him making deals with players and lies to them behind their back. Later Sparky solved the problem and made sure he would not lie to the players about their paycheck. Everyone likes Sparky a lot better than the former owner because Sparky is honest to the players and when he would give someone a raise he would not lie about it. The New York Yankees ended up winning the World Series thanks to Sparky.
This is one of the best books to read if you like baseball. It’s a fun story to read that is in fact a comedy mode of literature. Most baseball books are only about the game, this book is different. They Year I Owned The Yankees take an inside look of what would being the owner really be like. With the story being realistic and the main character is in control.
